Since my alma mater the University of Houston Cougars are local, I attend all of the home games and we always tailgate beforehand. In years past, we have orchestrated huge tailgating events including an RV, tents, a smoker, and the main centerpiece... lots of great food. But this year we are a bit misplaced. The University's stadium is being rebuilt, so the Cougars are playing in other venues throughout the season. So unfortunately our tailgating last weekend was not up to our normal standards. In fact the only food we had was black bean pico (as mentioned here), hummus, and tortilla chips. Fortunately, the venue for the game served food so we didn't go hungry. Hopefully by the next home game we will be back in the swing of things.

And then there is the NFL. I am a HUGE Green Bay Packers fan. HUGE! Again, I don't know all the players, but I never miss a regular season game and I am always cheering the loudest (but that's probably just because I'm the only one watching at my house). Now you may be wondering how a gal from Texas is a Packers fan and not a Texans fan. Well, I will root for the Texans and hope they do well (except if they are playing the Packers). The Packers will always come first and here's why... When I started gaining interest in football during college there was no professional team in Houston. All of my family is from Wisconsin and most still lived there, so it was a natural fit to make the Packers my team... and not to mention Brett Favre was looking pretty good back then. And Aaron Rodgers isn't too shabby these days either. Anyway... to get back on track... This Sunday is the Packers first regular season game and I'll be dolled up in my cutest and newest Packers shirt, cooking brats, and snacking on some fine Wisconsin cheese for the occasion. Go Pack Go! Here's wishing everyone a great weekend and good football!
